Well idk about going up stairs but try the "G-Bound r/c car". Perfect for you, it can flip, has good range, and its wheels are like balloons so it goes pretty fast and it can ride on water. You should check it out

Michael asks…

how dangerous are remote control cars that take petrol or how great are they? read on...?

how do they blow up, how do you maintain them, would you reccomend one and what is nitro????

Ted answers:

I own a Traxxas Revo Nitro monster truck. It runs on 80% Ethanol alcohol and 20% Nitro. (Traxxas top fuel)The handling of the fuel is important because an open flame could easily make it explode. I always make sure when I refuel nobody around me is smoking. I haven’t had a problem yet.

The trucks really aren’t dangerous except for their speed. Mine goes 40 mph regular speed not scale. I know 40 don’t seem that fast but when you are controlling a 1/10 scale 15-pound truck that could easily break someone’s leg, or ankle, that’s fast. You just have to be careful where you run it to make sure you don’t have anyone you could hit.

As for maintenance, you will break your truck. The nitro trucks always need parts. The A-Arms break the most. The plastic spur gear will strip very easily. They also break push rods, and rims. Not all of those parts are expensive if you buy them from your truck manufacture; it is just annoying to have to take the truck apart each time to replace those parts.
After-market companies suck as RPM racing sell stronger after market parts that do not break that easily but then that can get expensive.

The nitro engines require glow plugs that need replaced often. The glow plugs are around $5.00 but right on top of the engine. Easy to replace the engines need to be cleaned, air filters replaced a lot.

If you weren’t willing to dedicate a lot of your time to these trucks, I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody. Their is a lot of work to keep them performing, and completive. Start with a high-end electric truck, and then move up when you get tired of the electric.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions e-mail me.

Donna asks…

do cats/kittens like to chase remote control cars?

Ted answers:

Sometimes. Depends on the cat. Usually the motor noise scares them and the fact that most of the "real" Rc Cars are similar size to the cat. It probably registers as more of a "potential threat" than a "toy" to be played with for most cats. Maybe small underpowered one would be more tempting than larger ones.
